The concept of TREE
For the successful development of renewable energies and the implementation of energy-efficiency measures, appropriate frameworks and incentives must be in place. Therefore, qualified staff who is responsible for design and elaboration of political and legal strategies is essential.
Germany has long standing experience in the implementation of renewable energy and energy efficiency technologies and measures, which can be passed on to other countries. TREE promotes capacity building and know-how transfer decision makers from the political and finacial sector. It offers a comprehensive educational approach combining technology with legal and economic aspects.
TREE seminars aim to enhance the following key procedures:
- Setting up the necessary legal environment, both public and private, through regulations
- Enabling investments in renewable energy projects and energy efficiency measures
- Accelerating the implementation of green energy projects.
Capacity building within the TREE project means: courses in Germany and abroad, policy advice as well as increasing the dialogue about experience between decision makers from partner countries. TREE supports the laying of foundations for CO2 reduction, greater independence from fossil fuels, the development of new industries and security of energy supply.
The TREE project, run by the Renewables Academy (RENAC), started in December 2008 and is supported by the Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety (BMU).
